Good practice in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) helps create respectful, inclusive and effective environments across charities and community organisations. This live session introduces key EDI concepts, explores everyday challenges such as unconscious bias and microaggressions, and supports delegates to build confidence in inclusive behaviours and constructive responses to discrimination.

This course is suitable for staff and volunteers at all levels, including Managers, Team Leads and Trustees who want to strengthen their understanding and practice of inclusion. No prior EDI training is required.

By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Have a good foundation of knowledge and awareness of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI)
  • Understand why EDI is important
  • Understand how EDI may relate to the work you do
  • Be more aware of your own and others’ unconscious bias
  • Understand the role of active allyship

Inclusive practice contributes to better teamwork, stronger engagement and a culture where everyone feels respected and able to contribute their best. EDI is good for business, and EDI is everyone’s business.

More about your tutor

Charlotte is a retail leader and EDI advocate with over 20 years’ experience across commercial and charity sectors, known for championing inclusive, people‑centred leadership. After building her career with major retailers and global brands, she moved into charity retail, where she led Isabel Hospice’s 17‑shop network, multiple eCommerce platforms and central warehouse, embedding sustainability, community and inclusion into every decision. A former EDI Board Director at the Charity Retail Association and a multi‑award‑winning leader, she combines commercial insight with a deep commitment to equity, team development and purposeful retail, supporting charities across the UK to build stronger, more inclusive and impactful organisations.

“The EDI training session created a safe and supportive environment where charities and community groups could openly explore inclusivity. The trainer was extremely knowledgeable, paced the session well, and encouraged discussion without anyone feeling rushed or under pressure. As a result, participants left feeling more confident in EDI and motivated to introduce short, meaningful inclusivity discussions into their own teams. The additional resources shared after the session were also a valuable support.”

“The group fed back that you were a brilliant speaker and really valued hearing about your personal experiences. Many could relate to them and felt they learned a great deal from your honesty and insight. It was also great to have a couple of allies on the call, who shared how thought-provoking they found your examples of active allyship (as did I). They found themselves reflecting on moments where they could have done more, as well as thinking about how they might approach similar situations differently in the future. That’s a real testament to the impact of your session.”
