This is a video of a webinar run by The British Academy as part of the Being Human Festival 2020. It is chaired by journalist and author of “How to break up with fast fashion”, Lauren Bravo and has contributions from Dr Georgina Brewis (Associate Professor in the History of Eduction at UCL) and Dr George Gosling, Senior Lecturer in HIstory at the University of Wolverhampton. The video gives a fascinating insight into how charity shops began, way back in the 1700s and their journey and impact through the ages.
